Die Badende: the bather

Bathtub

German boaters got a surprise this week with the debut of “Die Badende” or “The Bather,” a giant, styrofoam-and-steel sculpture showing a woman’s head and knees if she were soaking in a bathtub. Created by artist Oliver Voss, the 13-foot-high, 98-foot-long sculpture will be on display in Hamburg’s Binnenalster Lake for the next 10 days.

Sometimes big problems and issues need a big bathtub! Thanks to Getty Images, Oliver Voss, the Huff Post : the World and the people of Hamburg making my day. Now, off to run a slightly smaller bath – our bathroom and tub certainly aren’t that big even if my mental, emotional, and physical problem and issues might seem that way right now.

  1. ooh hope your cold gets better soon too. I hate when that happens. makes me super cranky! I love the bather photo, Can you imagine how bizarre it would feel to unexpectedly come upon that while in a little rowboat?

  2. To me she looks like she possibly just fell back in the water. She doesn’t look like she’s really enjoying this bath. So what are they going to do with her after they take her out?
    I like it!

  3. That is one o fthe coolest things I have seen in a long time, thanks for sharing it. I’m still going through emails and favorite blogs from the beginning of the month, Today I decided to start with the newest ones first. If I haven’t commented on some of yours yet it because they are still in line waiting! Hoping today is a good day for you, I am suffering with a terrrible cold. All I want to do is sleep.

    • Sorry to hear you’ve got a yucky, ichy cold. There is some bug going around here in the northeast with coughing (in some cases), loss of voice (can’t spell the technical term), really sore thoarts, aches, blahs, and tiredness. I’m loosing track of when mine started — have to look at the receipts for cold supply purchases! Hope your’s gets better soon!

I've done all the "talking" so far. Now its your turn. Comments give me a snapshot of myself, like reflecting images in a mirror.
