[you] can see clearly now: carryon Tuesday #158b

at the top of Moro Rock

among the butterflies

and highness

everything stretches out

uncurling, unfurling

the sky, the curvature of the earth

horizons and the cosmos

like a cat after a nap

sinuous, all muscle and fur

suspended between

the earth and sky

is dizzying, mind-bending

peak/ behind you

[you]can see clearly now

all that is before you

the mountains

streaked white and granite

cutting ragged gashes

into the blue

tops of trees spread green

defying gravity

some cling to the rockface

like climbers

strung with ropes and harnesses

but you prefer

the freefall

of flying

like the falcon, like the eagle

arms spread, legs straight

diving through space and time

you won’t hit bottom,

as the ground approaches

you swing up and high

to find your footing

between earth and sky

and the butterflies

fluttering up on moro rock

  1. I always love reading about you and flying….it’s so interesting and so peaceful too. great imagery. I see you (in my mind) soaring through the blue sky and puffy white clouds noticing the birds, trees ,everything….and so, so, calm and happy! Hope you are HAPPY and doing well. Laurie

    • Something strange is going on with my wordpress account (and my whole computer) so I’m not sure if this will actually appear.
I like reading your carryon tuesday posts — full of great stories woven around the prompt
Hope things are well with you and your family.

    • I’d love to be an eagle too! Or, a condor in the Andes perhaps.
I’ve always wanted to take a flight in,the old-fashioned (now I suspect) glider plane. I’m not sure folks still do that now there are hang-gliders and ultra, ultra lights.
I’ve also wanted to go up in a hot air balloon (never seen one close up) — guess I like the idea of “free-flight” but I’m not sure I could sail through the air the way hang gliders or parasailers do it. Guess I’m a bit timid

I've done all the "talking" so far. Now its your turn. Comments give me a snapshot of myself, like reflecting images in a mirror.
