#fwf: above the water line

Source: We Heart It

source: we heart it

just above the waterline

my horizon lies

just above the waterline

grey on gray

watching lifeline

dip below my sight

no fear, only longing

from the sea,

to the sea

natural cycle

of returning

my horizon lies

just below the waterline

You say so much with so few words. I enjoyed reading this Phylor.

Thank you, Colline. You should hear how many words I use when I talk, lol.

A powerful sequence of images in your poem and an expression of emotional intensity. I hope you surface soon. :)

Thanks, Suzanne — some times it’s easy to keep my head above the waterline than others!

This was palpable. The water line; a thin line between life and death, hope and surrender. Nice!

Thanks, Kellie! I really was intrigued by your choice of prompts, and am looking forward to seeing where others took the “ocean.”

aloha Phylor. i like your thinking in these words “let my fingers fly, eyes closed”. i like where your thoughts drifted in the verse as well. and the subtle shift in grey to gray which leads me to the idea of different kinds of gray. aloha.
