mermaid’s scream

Arno Rafael Minkkinen

Arno Rafael Minkkinen

Man sailing

cross unknown seas with

only certain stars

and shifting currents

to guide them.

Viewed the ocean

as enemy in a duel

to the death

or a exotic lover

caressing gently.

To mange this imagery

“beasts of the sea”

were monsters or sirens

drawn on misshapen

maps of the world

drawn with the pen

of absurdity.

No wonder the mermaid

Wanted to get away from the Disneyification of everthing! I thought of old maps of the oceans and the “new world,” as well as “The Scream.”

Great reasoning … always interesting to get away from the sticky sweet! Would the Scream be the one by Munch?

I like to undo the Disneyification of life. Thought of wonderful old maps with mythical creatures in the ocean between the “old” and “new” worlds.

      Thank you
When I looked at the picture, for some reason it reminded me of the painting “The Scream.” The story went backwards from there.

I love dialogue. Do you?
