Jefferson Airplane

Paul Kantner 1975 (1975)

The rockers are “of an age,” and another one left today. Paul Kantner died of a heart attack at the age of 74. He was one of the founding members of Jefferson Airplane, and later, with Grace Slick, Jefferson Starship.

I remember watching Woodstock in our school cafeteria on movie night – yes, Woodstock! – and being blown away, again, by Grace Slick’s voice. After reading the book, Go Ask Alice, I think of that as the song’s title. I do remember hearing the song 1967-68, and thinking how incredible she sounded.
